SPRING BARLEY
Spring barley is sown between February and End March.
It will appear similar to winter barley in colour and texture but will typically be around 3 weeks later in maturing.
This means that spring sown cereal crops are usually available for gliders until late May before becoming too tall for landing

Early August

1000-1500ft
Surface
The more forward crops are changing colour already but some crops still are green.
Spring barley will be ready for harvest in around 1-2 weeks in the east midlands.

Spring barley is in the lower field with a brown (set aside ) border.

Late June
1000-1500ft
Surface
Spring barley fields will appear as light green colour.
Now too tall for safe landing but the spring cereal crop varies greatly this year in its growth stage due to delayed drilling in the spring in some areas of the country so check the depth of the crop before committing yourself.

The right hand image is almost too tall for landing but the left hand image is almost certainly OK.
